Open Volunteer Positions

Below are a number of exciting new volunteer opportunities! We are always looking for casual volunteers for a variety of BookFest activities but we occasionally require a larger committee role to be filled.

Role Description: Coordinates social media marketing efforts, press releases, traditional advertisements, radio & TV spots, website administration and graphic design for marketing materials. Works with any volunteers that are responsible for those tasks. Brainstorm and implement new promotional opportunities.

Basic skills/abilities required: Experience with social media is necessary. Website admin, online advertising and graphic design experience an asset. Excellent writing skills and creative thinking is essential.



Role Description: Coordinates booking of venues, rentals, food vendors and entertainment. Creates site schedule and other documentation for festival day. Helps organize volunteers on festival day, oversees set-up and take down. Acts as primaryy contact for vendors, and entertainers.

Basic skills/abilities required: Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills required. Competent with email and Word/Excel or similar programs. Able to follow up occasionally during business hours with contacts.



Role Description: The Committee Support Position provides administrative support to the different committees when needed. This includes creating documents, compiling information, organizing digital files, taking minutes at our monthly meetings and checking the main email account and forwarding emails to the appropriate people.

Basic skills/abilities required: Experience with word processing and spreadsheet software. Very comfortable with email. Excellent organizational and written communication skills. Experience with Google Drive an asset but not required.
